Snowland Journeys

Fundraising Manager

As Fundraising Manager I raise funds for Snowland Journeys, ensuring our work is supported by charitable grants and partnerships. The largest part of my job is applying for grant applications to Trusts and Foundations. Earlier this year I designed a series of lesson plans for UK schools based on our documentary film ‘Children of the Snow Land’.

The subjects covered include Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 English, Geography and Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE), as well as special ‘Lockdown Lesson Plans‘ to help UK children and young people to cope better with Covid 19. English, Religious Education and History lessons will be launched later this year and early 2021.

As well as working for Snowland Journeys, I am an author, journalist and former History teacher having previously worked for The Guardian and The Observer.  I have spent more than fifteen years working in education including teaching at some of the capital’s most challenging secondary state schools.  Roles include Head of Subject, Special Educational Needs teacher and and Behaviour Specialist. In 2018 I designed lesson plans for Sierra Leone’s first ever History National Curriculum for secondary education.

This role allowed me to bring together my educational knowledge, writing and research skills and a passion for fundraising for making a difference with both the Himalaya’s and the UK youth.
